Description
The kiva is a sweat lodge with a very long tradition. It is modeled after the ancient Indian inipi and was used for ceremonial cleansing, maintaining health, and healing illnesses. The Indians built a half-height circular hut from twigs and sealed it with skins. Heated stones were rolled into a hole in the center and water poured over them.
