Tierpark Petermoor

The Petermoor Wildlife Park in Bassum, Lower Saxony, is an ideal destination for families, nature lovers and animal lovers who want to enjoy a relaxing outing in the countryside. Around 250 animals from approximately 60 species live on the extensive, natural grounds. Visitors can take a mini ‘world tour’: in the Australian enclosure, they will encounter red kangaroos and Australian swans, while axis deer and blackbuck antelope live in Asia and South America is represented by llamas and rheas. Particularly popular with children is the petting zoo, where they can find pygmy goats, pot-bellied pigs and old breeds of domestic animals such as Soay sheep and various breeds of chickens.

In addition to animal observation, the park also offers numerous leisure activities: A children's play area, a balance course and the ‘Kattas climbing landscape’ provide action, while the idyllic Petermoor pond area with waterfowl and turtles invites visitors to linger and relax. Picnic areas, benches and a small discovery hut offer opportunities for breaks, while a snack bar at the entrance makes it easy to grab a bite to eat.

Petermoor Zoo is open all year round, daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in summer and until 6 p.m. in winter, including Sundays and public holidays. Admission is free, but donations for the maintenance of the park are welcome. Dogs are allowed on a short leash, and parts of the grounds are wheelchair accessible.

Thanks to its natural design, combination of exotic and native animal species, play and leisure facilities, and idyllic pond landscape, Petermoor Zoo is a worthwhile excursion for the whole family. Whether for half a day or a longer stay, visitors can experience animals up close, enjoy nature, and spend a relaxing day away from everyday life.
