About the Park
Gotha Zoo is located in the former royal seat of Gotha, the fifth largest city in the Free State of Thuringia, in the protected landscape area at the foot of the Kleiner Seeberg. Around 850 animals from over 140 species, including ferrets, porcupines, dwarf otters, Canadian beavers, Anubis baboons, avocets, tap-dancing goats, Amur tigers, Carpathian lynxes and the laughing Hans, currently live in the zoo's six-hectare grounds. On the approximately 1.7 km long path, which is suitable for pushchairs, you will of course also pass the petting zoo, which is always a highlight, and not just for children. Exciting information about the animals is also provided during the various show feedings. The zoo café invites you to take a breather during your visit with its gastronomic offerings. Gotha Zoo is open all year round and is a worthwhile excursion destination for all animal lovers, young and old, and those who want to become one.
