About the Park
The animal and plant park Fasanerie, which is run by the state capital Wiesbaden, is located in the city forest in the north-west of the Hessian state capital. The 23-hectare site, which was opened in 1955, is currently home to around 250 animals of 50 different species. In addition to a petting zoo with animals such as goats, guinea pigs and rabbits, there are also brown bears and wolves that live together in a near-natural enclosure. Badgers, fallow deer, red deer and wild boar, lynx, mink, otters, pheasants and the European wildcat are also at home here. Eagle owls, long-eared owls, barred owls, golden eagles, buzzards and lesser spotted eagles can be seen in the bird of prey enclosure. The nature park is home to one of the thickest sequoia trees in Germany, ginkgo, robinia, rowan, holly, Spanish fir and exotic and native plants. Thanks to its diversity, the Fasanerie animal and plant park is an excursion destination for the whole family.
