About the Park
Located about 25 km west of Zwickau, in the municipality of Callenberg within the Zwickau district of Saxony, is the Oberwald Reservoir recreational area, which was established in 1982. It was created from what was once the largest nickel ore deposit in Central Europe. In addition to a 360-meter-long swimming beach, a 64-meter-long water slide, and a boat rental service, the Oberwald Reservoir offers an adventure mini-golf course and a 508-meter-long summer toboggan run that opened in 2003. Refreshments are available at the “Hell’s Kitchen Oberwald” snack bar, the “Beachbar Werk#82,” and “Meisel’s Shop am See.” Those who wish to stay longer than just a day trip to the Oberwald Reservoir recreation area can pitch a tent at the campground or stay overnight in one of the vacation homes.
