About the Park

The funfair in St. Ingbert, affectionately known as the ‘Dengmerter Kerb’, is a traditional folk festival lasting several days that is deeply rooted in the town's history and dates back to the mid-19th century. The event takes place in the central squares around the town hall. The festival offers a lively atmosphere and lasts over a long weekend, with celebrations continuing into the evening hours on the main days.

The official opening of the fair usually takes place on a Saturday evening and is often accompanied by musical entertainment, the traditional tapping of the beer barrel and the so-called ‘Kerweredd’. At nightfall, a giant fireworks display provides a festive highlight. The fair includes special promotion days, with Tuesday traditionally being dedicated to families, with reduced prices at the various stalls.

The culinary offerings at the fair are varied, ranging from hearty dishes such as grilled sausage and French fries to classic sweets. These include roasted almonds, candy floss, popcorn, gingerbread hearts and the popular ‘Kerwe ice cream’. In addition to the rides, there are sales, skill and amusement arcades, such as duck fishing and shooting galleries, to provide entertainment. The event is an integral part of the town's annual calendar.

The so-called Nach-Kirmes (after-fair) in St. Ingbert serves as a traditional finale and extension of the main folk festival, the ‘Dengmerter Kerb’. It takes place the following weekend and allows visitors to continue the fairground fun for a few more days. Although the Nach-Kirmes is more compact in size than the main event, it is still attended by a considerable number of showmen. It is located on the market square and continues to offer fun for the whole family on these three days – from Friday to Sunday. The culinary offerings remain the same, so guests can continue to enjoy a selection of fairground treats and snacks.
