Siegen - Weihnachtsmarkt

The Siegen Christmas market is one of the most atmospheric Christmas experiences in the region and owes its special charm to its picturesque location in the historic city centre. Every year, the area below the Lower Castle and along Kölner Straße is transformed into a festively lit Christmas village. The historic architecture of the castle provides an impressive and majestic backdrop for the magical atmosphere.

The event is characterised by a varied programme and a wide range of attractions. One outstanding attraction is the large ice rink, which invites visitors to go ice skating and is often transformed into a lively ice disco in the evenings. The imposing Ferris wheel, which is traditionally erected on the castle square, provides an unforgettable view over the festively illuminated city. In terms of cuisine, the market offers everything the Christmas heart desires: visitors can warm up with mulled wine and punch in the popular, often two-storey mountain station and enjoy hearty regional specialities, potato pancakes and classic sweets.

The range of goods on offer in the numerous wooden huts includes high-quality handicrafts, individual gift items and traditional Christmas decorations. Entertainment is provided by a varied stage programme at the Lower Castle with local artists, choirs and bands providing musical accompaniment to the contemplative atmosphere. In addition, during the Advent season there are often smaller, particularly cosy areas, such as the Krönchendorf, which round off the pre-Christmas atmosphere in Siegen city centre. The Christmas market thus charmingly combines history, entertainment and cosy get-togethers.
