Schwarzwald Modellbahn 🔒

The Black Forest model railway in Gutach is a fascinating excursion destination for railway fans, families and model-making enthusiasts. Covering more than 500 square metres of exhibition space, the largest European model railway based on a real H0 gauge presents a detailed miniature world of the Black Forest in southern Germany. With great attention to detail, typical landscapes, buildings and everyday scenes from the region have been recreated – from romantic half-timbered villages to densely forested hills. Various trains run simultaneously on a rail network controlled by the latest digital technology.

The regular day-night cycle is particularly impressive, with the entire scenery bathed in atmospheric light and even the windows of the miniature houses beginning to glow. Little surprises and moving scenes ensure that there is something new to discover with every visit. The Black Forest model railway is not only a technical masterpiece, but also a loving reflection of Black Forest culture and way of life in miniature format.

Before the Black Forest model railway was relocated to Gutach, the 2004 system could be admired in Hausach, around 8 km away, from 2015 to January. Since 2023, the trains of the Black Forest model railway have been making their rounds in Gutach under the direction of Andreas Mutschler. Of course, there is also a café where you can stop for a bite to eat.

Tip: Combine your trip to Gutach with a ride on the Gutach summer toboggan run, which is part of the Wiegand Adventure Mountains!
