You are one of our closest relatives, but when the cute Barbary macaques chatter their teeth, it doesn't mean "I'm cold", but rather: "Look how nice I am". The monkeys, which come from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, can play more than 35 different sounds. But: Barbary monkeys are the only primates that live freely in Europe - on the Rock of Gibraltar. The Berbers also have a huge monkey rock in the Zoo Safari Park. Here they live (almost) as if in freedom, and the visitors sit in the monkey train “behind bars”.

The monkey express drives slowly through the enclosure so that you can take a close look at everything.
The monkeys can be fed, but only with the wild feed that is available at the station kiosk. Caution: Do not put your fingers through the grid when feeding!
