Stretching over 700 metres, the Saarbrücken Christmas Market is one of the most atmospheric and largest Christmas markets in Saarland, uniquely combining the historic ambience of St. Johann Market with the hustle and bustle of Saarland's largest shopping street, Bahnhofstraße. The festive atmosphere is characterised by sparkling lights and the scent of Christmas delicacies wafting from over 80 beautifully designed stalls. Visitors will find high-quality handicrafts, traditional Christmas decorations and a rich selection of culinary delights from the region. A big crowd-puller, especially for families, is the flying Santa Claus, who hovers over the market grounds every day with the Christ Child in his reindeer sleigh to tell Christmas stories from lofty heights, especially those of Rudolf, the reindeer with the red nose. In addition to the classic market stalls, the market offers other attractions: The Jupiter Ferris wheel on Tbilisser Platz offers a spectacular view of Saarbrücken illuminated for Christmas from a height of 50 metres. In the middle of Bahnhofstraße, a plastic ice rink invites visitors to go ice skating and curling, which is a special, sustainable winter sport. The rustic winter barn provides a cosy place to socialise and warm up.
