About the Park
The Rostock Hanse Sail is primarily a major international maritime event focusing on traditional ships. Nevertheless, an extensive range of fairground attractions is an integral part of the land programme and a popular attraction for families and festival visitors.
The fairground elements are not concentrated in one central location, but are spread across the various festival areas, particularly along the city harbour promenade in Rostock and also in Warnemünde.
What the fairground at the Hanse Sail has to offer:
+ A wide variety of rides: Visitors will find a mix of classic and modern rides. These often include:
- Family-friendly attractions: Carousels, bumper cars, music express and smaller Ferris wheels that offer a beautiful view of the festival grounds and the ships.
- Children's rides: Numerous attractions especially for the youngest visitors, such as children's carousels, mini roller coasters and bouncy castles.
- Occasional thrill rides: For adrenaline junkies, there may also be larger, faster rides such as roller coasters or chain carousels at great heights, depending on the showmen who come each year.
+ Game and entertainment booths: Typical fairground booths such as shooting galleries, lottery booths, duck fishing, tin can throwing and claw machines invite you to join in and win.
+ Culinary offerings: Numerous food stalls complement the fairground experience with classic treats. These include:
- Sweets such as candyfloss, roasted almonds, gingerbread hearts and chocolate-covered fruit.
- Savoury snacks such as bratwurst, chips, fish rolls and other snacks.
- Beverage stands with soft drinks, beer and other refreshments.
Integration into the overall concept:
The funfair at the Hanse Sail is an integral part of the extensive programme of events on land. It complements the maritime atmosphere with a folk festival character and offers a welcome change between admiring the ships, visiting the cultural stages and the markets. While the ships form the heart of the Hanse Sail, the funfair contributes significantly to the family-friendly and lively folk festival atmosphere that makes the event so popular.
