Rinteln - Maimesse

Ready for some great funfair days: Rinteln on the Weser is set for a great time on the first weekend in May. The traditional fair attracts visitors from near and far to the historic old town centre.

This well-known event with over 100 showmen and market traders dates back to 1392, when Count Otto I of Holstein and Schaumburg granted the citizens of Rinteln the privilege of holding two free church fairs a year on St Mary Magdalene's Day.

This is still the case today and family friendliness is of course a trump card in Rinteln. Young and old, families, teenagers, grandparents and grandchildren - everyone feels at home here and can find a tailor-made programme in the midst of the magnificent Weser Renaissance backdrop.
