About the Park
The whole of Rhede and the surrounding area celebrates when the traditional funfair takes place for four days from Friday to Monday on the last weekend in August. The quaint street fair winds its way through the entire town centre and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every time.
The funfair is particularly popular because of its cosy atmosphere. There are cosy beer gardens in the alleyways and courtyards, and many a local resident opens the gates to their courtyard for the festival and invites visitors to enjoy refreshments.
Numerous family businesses can be found among the 160 fairground exhibitors, giving the Rheder Kirmes its unmistakable flair.
Puppet theatre in the beer garden, barrel organ players and live music provide the right setting. The Saturday of the fair is the day for jugglers and street performers: fire breathers, stilt walkers and pantomimes are out and about. On the Monday of the fair, the family day attracts visitors with special offers and the big fireworks display in the evening.
