Oldenburg - Lamberti-Markt

The Oldenburg Lamberti Market is one of the most beautiful and traditional Christmas markets in northwestern Germany, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Named after the neighboring St. Lamberti Church, it transforms the historic backdrop between the Old Town Hall, the church, and Oldenburg Castle into a bright, pre-Christmas “small town.”

Around 110 lovingly decorated wooden huts with lots of fir greenery and glittering lights line up next to each other and offer a wide range of Christmas goods. Visitors can browse for special gifts here, from handicrafts to jewelry and toys to textiles. There is also plenty to eat and drink: in addition to the obligatory mulled wine and Feuerzangenbowle, culinary specialties such as kale, flambéed salmon, bratwurst, and sweet treats, including various vegetarian and vegan delicacies, await visitors.

The atmosphere at the Lamberti Market is particularly festive and is rounded off by a varied supporting program. This includes daily video mappings with Christmas motifs on the facade of the Old Town Hall, choirs and performers on stage, and the traditional Lamberti singing. For younger guests, there is a separate children's program with story time and puppet shows in a tent behind the Lamberti Church.
