About the Park
In Haltern am See in North Rhine-Westphalia, between the Ruhr area and Münsterland, lies the Granat Nature Wildlife Park, which covers an area of over 600,000 square meters. Naturwildpark Granat differs from other zoos and animal parks in that almost all the animals, with the exception of wild boars, wild cats, kangaroos, lynxes and wolves, live in a natural, mountainous area that is accessible to visitors. Around 400 to 500 animals live in the natural wildlife park, including various species of deer, mouflons, guanacos, parakeets, pigeons, pheasants and chickens in the aviaries, and frogs, fish and turtles in the wetland biotope. There is also a playground for the little ones and various rest and picnic areas where they can relax and recharge their batteries. A bird of prey show is also held on selected days. The Naturwildpark Granat thus invites young and old to an unforgettable experience.
