Meppen - Rathauskirmes

The Meppen Town Hall Fair is a large, multi-day folk festival that traditionally enlivens the entire city centre of Meppen in autumn. The colourful fairground activities extend across the city centre, particularly in the area between the historic town hall and Windthorstplatz. The festival is one of the annual highlights in the region and attracts numerous visitors. The event is known for its festive atmosphere and varied programme.

The fair begins ceremoniously on a Friday afternoon and includes a special highlight in the evening: a large fireworks display synchronised to music, which is set off above the city. On Saturday, the stalls and stands are already open in the morning. On Sunday, a Sunday shopping event takes place parallel to the fair, which attracts additional visitors to the city centre; the folk festival continues its activities even after the shops have closed. The festivities traditionally conclude on Monday with Family Day, when guests can take advantage of reduced prices at many stalls. The food on offer, ranging from hearty snacks to sweet treats, ensures that visitors are well catered for.
