Melle - Gesmolder Kirmes

This year's Gesmolder Kirmes is a mixture of the new and the tried and tested, with around 130 showmen and women taking part as usual. In addition, the local innkeepers and a number of clubs have once again joined in to make the fair a complete success. So it's no wonder that the "Gessem" is once again expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors.

Traditionally - and Michael Weßler emphasised this - the fair is officially opened on Saturday afternoon after the children's mass in St. Peter's Church on Femlindeplatz. "To celebrate the day, there will be gingerbread hearts and free tickets for the rides for the girls and boys, while the adults can look forward to free draught beer," said the local mayor. Other highlights in the programme include the SV Viktoria Gesmold funfair run on Friday, the ecumenical church service on the bumper cars followed by a concert by the Gesmold brass band on Sunday morning and the traditional funfair reception late on Monday afternoon, followed by a walk along the funfair mile.

There is no doubt that the Gesmold fair also has all kinds of culinary delights to offer. "Whether classic, vegetarian or vegan - there is something for every taste," explained Sabine Schlüter. Visitors can also expect "a balanced selection of drinks".
