Mechernich-Kommern - Jahrmarkt anno dazumal

In April, we are once again inviting you to the ‘Jahrmarkt anno dazumal’ and thus to a unique journey through the history of popular amusement. The journey begins in the imperial era after 1871 and ends in the fairgrounds of the economic miracle era.

The traditional museum funfair is characterised by attractions that have long been unavailable at any other German funfair and even at other nostalgic funfairs. Above all, it is the classic displays that have long since become unknown, old show booths such as a peep-box ‘Panoptikum’ that make the museum fun fair, which has long been known beyond Germany's borders, unmistakable. Of course, ancient carousels such as the last surviving caterpillar railway from the 1920s and a Ferris wheel also turn.

The countless offerings, including many hand-picked travelling traders' and craftsmen's stalls, also include a colourful world-class artistic programme. This year's ‘Jahrmarkt anno dazumal’ will once again feature top-class artists, such as the gentleman juggler Jeton, an artist with handstand equilibristics, a unicycle acrobat, diabolo and flummi jugglers. Of course, fire-breather Gilbert is also a must.

The ‘Jahrmarkt anno dazumal’ is primarily aimed at a family audience. Children will have plenty of fun. This is ensured by many historical games of skill, historical carousels suitable for children, jugglers and a first-class puppet travelling theatre in the style of the imperial era.
