Zwergnase

Once upon a time.... This is how the fairy tale of little Jakob, the son of a cobbler and his wife Hanne, who sold vegetables and fruit at the market, begins. One day, when Jakob and his mother were standing at the market offering their goods, an old, horrible-looking woman, the fairy Kräuterweis, came to their stall and threw everything into confusion. Jacob insulted her and the fairy Kräuterweis wished him a long nose and no neck at all. Finally, she bought a few cabbages and had Jacob carry them home. He stayed with the fairy Kräuterweis for almost seven years and learned from her how to cook with sometimes wondrous and rare herbs. When he returned to his parents they no longer recognised Jakob, for he had a long nose, no neck and a humpback, just as the fairy wished. His parents even called him a dreadful dwarf. So he moved away and tried his luck as a cook at court. Here he cooked for his master and his guests. A goose that Jacob said was Mimi, the daughter of a magician, became his friend. What happened when the duke was visited by another prince, what the dish Souzeraine and the herb Niesmitlust have to do with it and whether Jakob got his beauty back, you can find out here in the Fairytale Paradise Heidelberg.
