About the Park
The history of the Lübeck Folk Festival goes back to 1848. At that time, however, the festival was still a marksmen's festival under the name "Allgemeine Scbheibenschießen". In 1871, the event was given its current name, "Volks- und Erinnerungsfest". Since 2015, the Volksfest no longer takes place on the remote Volksfestplatz, but at the Musik- und Kongresshalle in direct proximity to the Trave and the Old Town.
