Lindau - Jahrmarkt

The Lindau Fair is a traditional folk festival that transforms the entire island town on Lake Constance into a lively fairground at the beginning of November. This multi-day event looks back on centuries of history, as it originally served as a grocer's market after All Saints' Day, where locals and guests stocked up on important items for the coming winter. Today, the fair captivates visitors with its unique location directly on the harbour promenade and in front of the world-famous backdrop of the lighthouse and the Bavarian lion. The festival is a colourful mix of around 60 showmen who provide fun and thrills on the station square, at the seaport and on Reichsplatz. Among the highlights is the large Ferris wheel, which offers a spectacular view of the harbour entrance and Lake Constance in winter, complemented by fast-paced attractions such as bumper cars and chain carousels. At the same time, around 140 merchants wind their way through the old town streets such as Schmiedgasse and Maximilianstraße to Reichsplatz, where visitors can purchase traditional market goods, practical household aids, handmade products and fragrant soaps at the numerous stalls. Over 40 food and confectionery stalls provide refreshments, their aromas of candyfloss, roasted almonds, bratwurst and regional delicacies wafting across the island. The festival is rounded off by a Sunday shopping day and a family day with discounted prices on the final day. The Lindau Fair is therefore an important meeting place for the entire Lake Constance region, combining shopping, enjoyment and traditional folk festival fun in a unique maritime atmosphere.
