Leipzig - Weihnachtsmarkt

The Leipzig Christmas Market, whose roots date back to 1458, is one of the oldest and most famous markets in Germany. It attracts millions of visitors every year and captivates with its impressive location in front of the historic backdrop of the Old Town Hall on the market square.

With around 300 festively decorated stalls, the market offers a rich selection: from traditional Erzgebirge folk art and a variety of handicrafts to culinary delights. Visitors enjoy the scent of mulled wine, roasted almonds, and regional specialties such as Saxon Handbrot.

The centerpiece is the market square with its majestic Christmas tree and daily festive trombone music from the balcony of the town hall. Other attractions include the Finnish village, the South Tyrolean village, a large Ferris wheel, and the children's fairy tale land on Augustusplatz.

The Leipzig Christmas Market spans several squares and combines history, culture, and a unique pre-Christmas atmosphere, making it a highlight of the Advent season.
