About the Park

We are expecting around 120,000 visitors to our various events and offers, who will celebrate our children's and local festival together in the usual exuberant and peaceful atmosphere. We are well prepared for this.

Fast-paced with thrills or a little less spectacular for our younger festival visitors - our large, modern and attractive amusement park with state-of-the-art rides offers something for everyone. There are always world firsts and great attractions. Traders, stalls and food stands enrich the programme.

THE HISTORY OF THE HEIMATFEST

Parades have a long tradition in Laupheim The first traces of the Heimatfest can be found as early as the 19th century - after the years of famine in 1816/17, a thanksgiving festival was held. A large parade was organised in 1845 to mark the relocation of the Oberamtssitz to Laupheim. A torchlight and candlelight procession was organised in connection with the victory celebrations after the war of 1870. The large "agricultural district festival" was celebrated over two days in 1910, followed by a municipal children's festival. After the First World War was lost, the festival was celebrated much more modestly as a children's festival. In 1919, there was also only a small festival to mark the town's 50th anniversary. In 1924, a parade with over 50 floats, 150 riders and many bands was organised in connection with the riding and driving tournament.

From home day to children's and home festival

In 1927, town councillor Wilhelm Preßmar initiated a children's festival, which was to be held regularly in September. Preßmar was extremely popular and was affectionately known as the "children's festival uncle". This established the "Laupheim Children's Festival" as an annual event at which children were clearly the centre of attention. Over the course of time, the term "home" became more and more important, and in 1929 the "Laupheim Home Day" was celebrated for the first time. From 1931 to 1939, the "Heimattag" was supplemented by a children's festival. The Second World War and its consequences interrupted this tradition and it was not until 1949 that the "Laupheim Homeland Day" was celebrated again. This name lasted until the 1950s. Over the course of time, the name "Kinder- und Heimatfest" (Children's and Homeland Festival) became established.

From the festival committee to the home festival committee

The festival had to be organised. This task was taken on in 1928 by a festival committee that had emerged from the carnival association. Due to the greater variety of beautiful flowers for decoration, the festival was moved from September to July. Over time, the festival committee evolved into the "Home Festival Committee", an association of citizens who took on the task of organising the festival. In 2007, the "Förderkreis Kinder- und Heimatfest Laupheim" was founded, which has been supporting our festival financially with donations ever since. In 2013, the newly founded association "Kinder- und Heimatfest Laupheim e.V." replaced the Heimatfest committee. On the basis of an agreement with the town of Laupheim, it is still responsible for the maintenance, realisation, organisation and further development of the traditional children's and local history festival and the promotion of solidarity with the home town of Laupheim. This association is still referred to today as the "Home Festival Committee".
