Landsberg am Lech - Volksfest

The Landsberg Folk Festival is the largest and most traditional event of its kind in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech. It takes place annually at the idyllically located fairground on Waitzinger Wiese, which is distinguished by its close proximity to the historic old town. With a capacity for around 30 to 40 showmen's businesses, the festival grounds offer a perfect mix of a classic Bavarian amusement park and cosy beer tent culture. During its ten-day duration, the folk festival regularly attracts between 30,000 and 50,000 visitors who enjoy the special flair on the edge of the Alps.

The atmosphere in Landsberg is characterised by a harmonious combination of Bavarian tradition and modern fairground fun. The amusement park offers a varied selection, ranging from fast-paced rides and modern attractions to popular classics such as bumper cars and chain flyers. A central attraction is the large, festively decorated marquee, where regional brass bands and party bands create the typical exuberant atmosphere. The location of the fairground also offers guests a picturesque view of the historic backdrop of the town, which lends the event a particularly charming touch.

In culinary terms, the folk festival is all about Bavarian cosiness. Regional specialities such as crispy chicken, pork knuckle and grilled fish are served in the marquee and at the numerous food stalls, accompanied by the traditional Maß Festbier from a regional brewery. Classic fairground treats, from roasted almonds to chocolate-covered fruit, provide sweet moments. Special highlights of the programme often include the traditional parade of festival hosts and clubs, as well as family day with reduced prices. When the grand fireworks display lights up the sky over the Lech on the final evening, the folk festival becomes an unforgettable experience for the entire region.
