Kusel - Herbstmesse

The Kusel Autumn Fair is a large, traditional folk festival that takes place every year on the first weekend in September in the district town of Kusel in the Palatinate. It is one of the largest folk festivals in the region and attracts up to 80,000 visitors annually.

The fair is a mixture of a funfair, a market and a folk festival. It covers the entire town centre, from the fair tent to Koch's Market, and offers a varied programme for all age groups.

- Market and fairground rides: Along Trierer Straße and on the fairground, there are numerous stalls where traders offer a wide variety of goods. There are also several fairground rides for young and old.

- Festival tent and live music: A central meeting place is the large festival tent, where live music is offered on all days of the fair. The musical programme ranges from traditional brass band music to party bands.

- Kuseline coronation: A traditional highlight on the first day of the fair is the ceremonial inauguration of the ‘Kuseline’, the local symbolic figure of the fair.

- Parade: On the Saturday of the fair, a large parade takes place through the city centre. Many local clubs and groups take part, underlining the strong sense of community at the festival.

- Family day: The last day of the fair is traditionally family day. On this day, reduced prices usually apply at the rides.

- Fireworks: The fair concludes on Tuesday evening with a large fireworks display.
