About the Park
The Klötzer Martinimarkt can be traced back to St Martin's Day. On this day, all the farmers' harvest work was completed and the financial year ended, so to speak. Maidservants and farmhands changed employers at the St Martin's market. People traded at the farmers' market and recruited labour for the coming year. In the evening, dancing took place in the parlours.
With over 200 years of tradition, the Martinimarkt has developed into the largest and most traditional town centre festival in the Altmark and takes place every year at the end of October.
