You've seen the whole world and nothing gives you a thrill? You're wrong if you've never been to the "weirdest funfair in Europe". If you've never climbed into the breakneck-speed rides there and have never been captivated by the rustic cosiness of the stalls and booths.

Around 170 rides, carousels, stalls and booths offer non-stop entertainment. Where can you find the "weirdest funfair in Europe"? On the world map at latitude 51.32 and longitude 7.33, in Germany in NRW, here in the Ennepe-Ruhr district, more precisely in the town of Gevelsberg.

Gevelsberg has been celebrating its funfair for more than 200 years, but back then people didn't really care about the special features of their funfair. The funfair association only revealed it this year: 650 metres of the one-kilometre-long funfair route is uphill or downhill with an average gradient of 8.5 percent. - This incline is a European record.

But there's something else that's really weird: you don't even notice the incline because there's so much to look at and marvel at and your feet run as if by themselves.

Try it out for yourself! The funfair starts at the Kirmestor in the upper town and runs from Mittelstraße up Elberfelder Straße towards Schwelm and into Rosendahler Straße.
