Enger - Kirschblütenfest

The Cherry Blossom Festival in Enger ( district) is the social highlight in the Widukindstadt event calendar and attracts visitors from across the East Westphalia-Lippe region every year on the first weekend in May. The festival extends across the entire town centre, with Kirchstraße, Barmeierplatz and the area around the collegiate church becoming a lively festival mile. With an impressive capacity for around 60 to 80 exhibitors, including showmen, local clubs and traders, the town centre is transformed into a spacious experience zone. Its enormous popularity is reflected in the visitor numbers: on a sunny festival weekend, between 20,000 and 35,000 guests regularly flock to Enger.

The atmosphere of the Cherry Blossom Festival is a unique blend of springtime lightness and Westphalian conviviality. While the name pays homage to the blossoming nature, the festival offers a full-fledged amusement park that is cleverly integrated into the urban architecture. Here, modern adrenaline-fuelled rides meet nostalgic carousels and traditional fairground stalls. Particularly charming is the connection to local businesses and associations, which turn the festival into a real community experience with their own stands and performances. The festively decorated streets and the colourful lighting of the rides create a welcoming atmosphere, especially in the evening hours.
