Description
The plunge pool is just one of several stations in the so-called "cooling phase" after a sauna session. Before entering the plunge pool, you should first stabilize your circulation in the fresh air. A cold water shower afterwards not only ensures constant cooling, but is also advisable for hygienic reasons and taking other guests into account.
The actual stay in the plunge pool should not be longer than 10-20 seconds, as otherwise the cold water draws too much heat from the body. The blood vessels that have widened in the sauna now contract strongly, the blood shifts to the core of the body, and internal organs such as our kidneys are supplied with more blood.
The blood circulation in people with low blood pressure is stabilized. Guests who suffer from high blood pressure and pregnant women should avoid using the plunge pool. However, it is still possible to shower gently with the hose.
