About the Park
The Spring Festival in Elsterwerda is the undisputed highlight of the folk festival calendar in southern Brandenburg and, as one of the biggest events in the region, marks the official start of the warm season. The extensive area around the business and start-up centre offers impressive space for around 40 to 50 showmen's businesses, making it one of the most important fairgrounds in the Elbe-Elster region. The enormous popularity of the festival is reflected in the impressive response rates: during a long festival weekend, between 30,000 and 50,000 visitors regularly flock to the town, temporarily multiplying the population of Elsterwerda and transforming the streets into a vibrant festival mile.
The atmosphere in Elsterwerda is characterised by a down-to-earth yet exuberant mood. The amusement park offers a remarkable variety of attractions, ranging from high rides visible from afar to fast-paced family roller coasters and traditional classics such as the Ferris wheel and the chain carousel. The layout of the rides ensures that modern thrills alternate with cosy areas to relax in. Particularly popular is the large marquee, which serves as a vibrant centre for live concerts and the traditional tapping of the keg, combining the classic fairground experience with the conviviality of a large public festival.
In culinary terms, the spring festival remains true to its roots and offers a rich selection of regional delicacies. In addition to hearty Brandenburg home cooking and barbecue specialities, typical fairground treats such as glazed fruit, fresh waffles and roasted almonds are a must. A special feature is the close involvement of local clubs and institutions, which gives the festival a noticeably personal touch. When the lights of the carousels shine against the evening sky at dusk and the grand fireworks display crowns the festival, it becomes clear why the Spring Festival in Elsterwerda, with its tens of thousands of guests, has had a firm place in the heart of the region for generations.
