Eitorf - Eitorfer Kirmes

The Eitorfer Kirmes is not only the absolute highlight of the municipality, it also has a particularly long tradition: it has been around since 1145.

The fair always takes place from the last Saturday to Tuesday in September on Eitorf's market square. It is known far beyond the borders of Eitorf, as the fair is the largest event of its kind in the entire Rhein-Sieg district: the beautiful Ferris wheel, many other rides, a funfair and many different food and drink stalls attract thousands of visitors to Eitorf every year. The Kölsch glass, which is traditionally available at the opening of the funfair and bears the coats of arms of the twin towns of Bouchain and Halesworth as well as the Eitorf coat of arms, is also very popular. The obligatory barrel tapping by the mayor takes place on Saturdays at 2 pm. On Tuesday evening at 9 p.m., things get really loud and colourful once again: the Eitorf-based company "Weco Feuerwerk" organises the big final fireworks display. Incidentally, the best view is along Brückenstraße.
