Duisburg - Weihnachtsmarkt

Every year, the Duisburg Christmas market transforms the city centre into an impressive, sparkling sea of lights and is one of the largest Christmas markets in the Ruhr area.

The festive scene stretches along the central shopping streets such as Königstraße and Kuhstraße. Over a hundred lovingly decorated wooden huts line the way, offering a balanced mix of traditional handicrafts, gift items, winter specialities and international delicacies. A characteristic feature of the market is the festive lighting, which creates a magical atmosphere with numerous fir trees and extensive light installations, which is particularly effective in the evening hours.

A Ferris wheel in the Steinsche Gasse/Kuhtor area often serves as the central landmark of the market. It allows visitors to enjoy a unique bird's-eye view of the colourful hustle and bustle of the city and the market. Another highlight is the ice rink, which invites visitors to enjoy winter skating. The gastronomic offerings are complemented by special meeting places such as the mulled wine pyramid or the mulled wine ship, which provide cosy moments to linger. The combination of extensive lighting, traditional stalls and modern attractions such as the Ferris wheel and ice skating makes the Duisburg Christmas market a popular destination for the entire Advent season.
