The Düsseldorf Christmas market is a diverse experience that is not limited to a single location, but rather divides the entire city centre into several thematically different festive zones.

The crafts market in front of the town hall forms the traditional centrepiece. Against the impressive backdrop of the historic town hall, flanked by a magnificent Christmas tree, the focus here is on authentic craftsmanship. The stalls are rustic and modelled on the style of the Bergisches Land region. Here you can watch artisans such as glassblowers and woodturners at work and purchase handmade goods, giving this square a particularly contemplative and traditional atmosphere.

The market on Burgplatz, known for its maritime and cosmopolitan feel, is quite different. Here, the modern landmark dominates: the ‘Wheel of Vision’. This giant Ferris wheel, over 50 metres high, offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Rhine and the festively illuminated old town from its heated gondolas. The market itself at Burgplatz often takes up a historical theme and is a popular meeting place in the evening due to its proximity to the banks of the Rhine.

Another highlight is the Roncalli Christmas Promenade, which attracts visitors with its special aesthetic. Inspired by the famous Roncalli circus company, the stalls here are presented in a nostalgic, detailed and often historically romantic design. The promenade offers a high-quality selection of goods and culinary delights in a unique, fairytale setting that combines the festive atmosphere with a touch of circus nostalgia and elegant entertainment.

These three central areas – the traditional craftsmanship at the town hall, the spectacular view and proximity to the Rhine at Burgplatz, and the romantic nostalgia of the Roncalli Promenade – make the Düsseldorf Christmas market a varied and extremely multifaceted experience.
