About the Park
A relatively old zoo is located in the city of Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia. It was opened in 1881 and bears the proper name "Der Grüne ". Animals from over 450 species are kept in large enclosures on an area of 24 hectares. Special attention is paid to the largest lion enclosure of all German zoos, the swimming pool for tapirs in the South America house and the 10-meter-high Aralandia free-flight aviary.
