About the Park
Over eleven days, the Cranger Kirmes attracts around four million funfair enthusiasts to the eleven-hectare fairground on the Rhine-Herne Canal every year. Always on the first Friday in August, the mayor of Herne opens the largest fair in North Rhine-Westphalia. The opening ceremony in the Crange festival hall includes the traditional tapping of the barrel and the cry of "Piel op no Crange!" (followed by eleven firecrackers.
On the Thursday before the fair, the rides are in full operation, inviting visitors to take their first stroll.
With more than 500 rides, the Cranger Kirmes is the second-largest fair in Germany and a highlight of the summer. Crange regularly attracts people from all over Germany and neighbouring countries. Around 50 rides, show rides and running rides provide thrills, speed and a large portion of fun. From games of chance and skill to classic funfair delights and cosy beer gardens to fast-paced rides through loops or darkness - Crange offers something for every taste and budget.
Particularly noteworthy: the atmosphere of the Crange family funfair is characterised by the unusual layout of the shops on the funfair square and the numerous Heckenwirtschaften - cosy beer gardens in the backyards around the funfair square. The opening and closing fireworks are an experience for the whole family.

Pferdemarkt Gut Steinhausen
Am Donnerstag vor der Kirmes, ab 10 Uhr findet traditionell der Pferdemarkt auf Gut Steinhausen statt. Neben der Pferdeauktion gibt es ein tolles Showprogramm mit Voltigieren, Kutschenvorführungen, Rekord-Hochspringen und vielem mehr.
Eröffnungsveranstaltung Cranger Kirmes 2023
Ab 14 Uhr geht ins Rund in der Cranger Festhalle. Neben dem Einzug der Schaustellerfahnen und dem Fassanstich gibt es natürlich auch wieder einen musikalischen Stargast.
Diesjähriger Stargast ist Michelle. Mit über 400 Millionen Streams und unzähligen Gold- und Platin-Auszeichnungen ist Michelle die Powerfrau des deutschen Schlagers. „Die Gäste der Eröffnung der Cranger Kirmes dürfen sich auf einen mitreißenden Auftritt in der Cranger Festhalle freuen“, so Oberbürgermeister Dudda.
Helmut Sanftenschneider – Gitarrist, Comedian und Entertainer – moderiert die bunte Eröffnungsfeier im Festzelt.
Eröffnungsfeuerwerk
Traditionell findet am Freitagabend um 22:30 das Eröffnungsfeuerwerk der Cranger Kirmes statt.
Abgeschossen wird es von der anderen Kanalseite.
Festumzug
Am Samstag morgen, gegen 10:30 Uhr startet der große Festumzug der Cranger Kirmes.
Rund 100.000 Besucher säumen jährlich die Hauptstraße zwischen Eickel und Crange, wenn die rund 4.000 Teilnehmer des traditionellen Festumzugs vom St. Jörgen-Platz aus in Richtung Cranger Kirmes starten. Eine gut vier Kilometer lange und bunte Partymeile mit über 100 Gruppen. Etwa 90 Minuten braucht ein geschmückter Festwagen oder eine tanzende Fußgruppe für den Weg über die Hauptstraße in Richtung Kirmesplatz in Crange. Das Grußwinken findet am Buschmannshof statt.
Familientag
Mittwoch ist traditionell Familientag auf Crange.
Den gesamten Tag über haben die Schausteller ihre Preise reduziert und locken mit Familientagsangeboten. Gerade in den Nachmittagsstunden kann man besonders viele Familien auf dem Platz antreffen. Von Klein bis Groß und Jung bis Alt.
Achtung! Mit Crangetalern können Sie an diesem Tag nicht bezahlen. Dafür sind die Preise für alle Besucher reduziert.
Abschlussfeuerwerk
Um 22:30 beschließt das Abschlussfeuerwerk die Cranger Kirmes 2023.
