About the Park
No live birds land in front of a shotgun at the "Coburg Bird Shoot".
The members of the shooting club organise their sporting competitions around the event in their shooting house. Traditionally, the festival, which takes place every year at the end of July for ten days on the Coburg Anger, begins with the shooting society moving into the marquee. On the opening evening, there is a large brilliant firework display. On the following Sunday, the Coburg Shooting Society parades through the town centre and collects its flag from the town hall, which is returned a week later. The Coburg Bird Shoot is the oldest and largest folk festival in the city centre.
