We try to ensure this year after year. The Whitsun market traditionally begins with the opening ceremony on Saturday afternoon in the large marquee. There are many speeches. But the actual start of the market is the tapping of the beer keg. This takes place at 15:00. Now the market is open and the hustle and bustle can begin. The local history association and its invited guests now start the traditional market tour. They visit the pubs, snack bars and, of course, the fairground rides. Thanks to the good mix, there is something for everyone. The Whitsun market quickly fills up with visitors from near and far. The market stallholders try to entice visitors with striking slogans, topical music and the presentation of their shops. While the market is mainly attended by families during the day, the later the evening gets, the more the crowd changes. Young and young at heart party until late into the night and sometimes even the morning after. The marquee on the edge of the forest is a big attraction beyond the district borders at Whitsun. On Whit Monday, the market begins with a Pentecost service in the marquee. The local pastor then celebrates the service together with the fairground pastor and the congregation. When this is over, at around 11.00 a.m., the last day of the market can begin. The market closes at around 11.00 pm and the market stallholders begin to dismantle. The very next day, most of the showmen have left and the village of Neukloster returns to its everyday life.
