Butzbach - Katharinenmarkt

The Butzbach Katharinenmarkt is a centuries-old and important folk festival in the Hessian town of Butzbach, which traditionally takes place every autumn. This four-day event offers a varied programme that combines the historic Krammarkt with modern fairground entertainment. The event spans two central locations: the historic market square and the courtyard of the Landgrave Castle, putting the entire city centre in a festive mood. The fairground section, which is concentrated in the castle courtyard, attracts young and old alike with its attractive rides and amusement offerings, providing classic fairground fun and thrills.

At the same time, numerous market stalls enliven the old town with regional specialities, handicrafts and culinary delicacies. The grand opening is traditionally celebrated with a barrel tapping and a concert by the fire brigade band, after which the fair symbolically begins with a short period of free rides on all the carousels. The market also includes a Sunday shopping day and a special family day with reduced prices, underlining its importance as a convivial family festival. The Butzbach Katharinenmarkt thus creates a charming atmosphere that combines the history of the traditional grocer's market with the lively entertainment of a modern funfair.
