Bietigheim's traditional festival: the horse market is the largest horse show in southern Germany, right next to the Bietigheim Viaduct.

Amusement park, market and exhibition:

The horse market always takes place around the first Monday in September. The opening in the marquee is always on Fridays. The amusement park at the Bietigheim horse market is open every day.

You can also visit other great offers such as the home and garden exhibition or the grocer's market.

One of the highlights of the festival is the colourful parade through Bietigheim's old town, which always takes place on Mondays. It ends on the festival square in front of the imposing backdrop of the Enz Viaduct. Admire the decorated floats from neighbouring towns, the clubs, bands, horses and much more.

Riding and show jumping tournament:

The best riders in the country are expected to attend the tournament every year, where they can prove themselves in seven advanced (S) level show jumping competitions, among others. The most important show jumping competition is the Grand Prix of the town of Bietigheim-Bissingen, an advanced (S**) level show jumping competition on Sunday afternoon.

Awards

A special attraction for breeders and horse lovers is the annual award ceremony for breeding horses. Ponies and small horses can be seen on the showground behind the viaduct on Sunday and breeding, working and riding horses on Monday.

The history

The horse market was established in 1792 as a "horse and cattle market" at the suggestion of tradesmen in the town of Bietigheim, who wanted to establish their own market in the face of competition from the neighbouring towns. Duke Karl-Eugen of Württemberg granted the town of Bietigheim-Bissingen the licence and thus the first market could be held.
