Bielefeld - Weihnachtsmarkt

The Bielefeld Christmas market is one of the largest and most atmospheric Christmas markets in North Rhine-Westphalia and extends across the entire city centre. It offers a diverse and festive atmosphere at various central locations:

- Alter Markt: Here, the historic backdrop of lovingly restored half-timbered houses creates a particularly atmospheric setting. With sparkling lights and a large Christmas tree, it invites you to linger over mulled wine, kale and handicrafts.

- Jahnplatz: The highlight here is the 22-metre-high Christmas pyramid, which is considered the largest in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is surrounded by a charming village of huts.

- Altstädter Kirchplatz / Leineweber-Brunnen: Here you will find the rustic ‘Haus vom Nikolaus’ (House of St. Nicholas), a cosy hut landscape and a snow cannon that creates a winter atmosphere. A Feuerzangenbowle (mulled wine punch) and a nostalgic Ferris wheel can also often be found here.

- Klosterplatz: This square often invites visitors to try their hand at curling or ice skating.

In total, there are over 110 festively decorated huts offering a wide range of handicrafts and winter delicacies such as roasted almonds, mulled wine, chocolate-covered fruit and other specialities. The market attracts visitors from all over the region and transforms the city centre into a sparkling winter wonderland.
