Berlin - Wintermarkt Schloßplatz

The winter market at Schloßplatz in Berlin-Mitte is one of the capital's newest and most architecturally impressive winter events. It takes place directly in front of and within the historic setting of the rebuilt Berlin Palace, now the Humboldt Forum, as well as in the magnificent Schlüterhof courtyard. Unlike traditional fairs, this market is characterised by its high-quality handicrafts, international cuisine and particularly stylish atmosphere. The facades of the Humboldt Forum are atmospherically illuminated, often by specially created video mappings and light installations, giving the market a unique, modern flair amidst a historical backdrop. Visitors will find a diverse range of products at over 150 stalls, ranging from high-quality goods and design objects to demonstrations of crafts such as glassblowing and wood carving. The culinary offerings are also international and include specialities such as Baumstriezel, Feuerzangenbowle, exquisite mulled wine specialities and a stylish champagne bar, complemented by typical Berlin winter cuisine in heated catering tents. Entertainment is provided by a laser show, which illuminates the façades on selected evenings, as well as a daily changing programme. There are also activities for children and families, including historical rides and the opportunity to try curling. The central location on Schloßplatz, with a view of Berlin Cathedral and the Lustgarten, makes the market an elegant and festive experience in the heart of Berlin, with admission generally free of charge.
