Bad Schwalbach - Martinimarkt

The Martinimarkt in Bad Schwalbach is a traditional folk festival lasting several days, which transforms the spa and district town into a colourful autumn hubbub at the beginning of November and extends across several central locations. It is considered an important event that combines a funfair, shopping mile and traditional market activities. The fun begins on Schmidtbergplatz with a traditional fairground, which offers rides, stalls and treats for the whole family throughout the market, with Tuesday being a special family day with discounted prices. On Martini weekend (Saturday and Sunday), the city centre invites visitors to ‘Weekend Shopping & More’, when numerous shops along Adolfstraße, Brunnenstraße and Kirchstraße open for Sunday shopping. These streets are transformed into an extensive shopping mile, complemented by stalls offering handmade goods, fashion and creative products. The traditional market takes place around Weinbrunnen Square, where clubs and exhibitors offer a wide range of handicrafts and regional specialities such as jewellery, spices and soaps. This area is often accompanied by live music and serves as a cosy meeting place. For the youngest visitors, there is a special children's programme on the Alleesaal forecourt, which includes craft activities, interactive theatre and a children's carousel. The market concludes on Tuesday with the traditional St. Martin's procession, featuring St. Martin on horseback and musical accompaniment, which ends with a St. Martin's bonfire and children's punch.
