About the Park
Only about 10 kilometres from the Lower Saxony border, between Duderstadt and Leinefelde in Worbis, lies the Alternative Bear Park. The bear park was opened in 1996 through the initiative of the "Aktion Bärenhilfswerk" on the site of the former municipal zoo. The original roots thus go back to 1955. The bear park covers a total area of almost 7 hectares and is home to 17 animal species. The core of the park is the five-hectare outdoor area, which is home to the bears and a wolf pack.
