Affen- und Vogelpark Eckenhagen

Monkey and Bird Park, which opened on May 1, 1981, is located halfway between Gummersbach and Olpe, just a few kilometers from the conveniently located Autobahn 4. The largest private zoo in North Rhine-Westphalia offers a mixture of animal park and adventure world. But if you only think of monkeys and birds when you hear the name, you're wrong.

Here you can experience a day full of fun and adventure with friends or family, whatever the weather. Of course, you also learn a lot about the animal world.

The park originally started with 150 bird species and more than 1,000 animals. Today there are well over 180 animal species and you can admire the birds in particular in huge open-air aviaries. Species-appropriate enclosures have also been built for the monkeys, all of which are suitable for baby carriages and wheelchairs. The eight-hectare site is rounded off by a petting zoo, huge playgrounds and an indoor adventure hall.

In addition to traditional gastronomy, there are also barbecue huts where you can grill to your heart's content.

Whether on the approximately three-kilometre-long circular trail or on the countless shortcuts and secret paths: fun is guaranteed throughout the site. And if the ascent on foot is too arduous, a small cable car will take you up the mountain.
