About the Park
It opened in 1969 under the name “Løveparken” (meaning “Lion Park”), with lions as its only animals. To this day, it remains the only zoo in Denmark that is home to gorillas. Over the years, the zoo’s total area has grown to 120 hectares, which are now home to around 70 animal species. The vast grounds offer a wide range of activities. You can take a safari bus tour, go on a walking safari where you’ll encounter camels, wolves, and elephants, or embark on a classic drive-through safari to explore the North and South American sections as well as the African savannas. You can also spend the night at the zoo, admire Europe’s largest penguin exhibit, or take a peek behind the scenes.
The zoo is located about 20 kilometers northeast of , making it easy to combine a visit to both attractions.
