Seahorse World

Seahorse World is located just a 45-minute drive north of Launceston and 45 minutes east of Devonport on picturesque Beauty Point in northern Tasmania. Seahorse Australia was originally established to breed seahorses to supply the traditional Chinese medicine market and thereby reduce the pressure on seahorses from overfishing. However, as this was not successful, the doors were opened to visitors in 1999. Since then, visitors to Seahorse World have had the unique opportunity to see where seahorses, which they can see in aquariums all over the world, come from.
