About the Park
About 35 kilometres north of Newcastle on the Australian east coast, less than 3 kilometres from Pacific Beach, lies the privately run Oakvale Wildlife Park since 1979. Mainly indigenous animals are kept on an area of around 25ha. Especially for younger visitors, direct proximity to many animals is made possible, so that feeding, petting or cuddling is quite easy. Besides goats, sheep, kangaroos or even Tasmanian devils, there is a koala breeding and training centre here at the zoo called "Koala Country".
