Mulligans Flat

Forde is about 30 kilometres north of Canberra. Since 2004, it has been home to the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary, which is Australia's largest contiguous boxwood-grassland area and is managed as a protected area. This means that the fauna living here is protected by a predator-proof fence that has been built around the entire area of over 1,253 hectares. Thus, the expulsion of wild cats and foxes from the protected area has ensured the regeneration of the local fauna. Reintroductions have also taken place, including the famous eastern bettong, the curlew and the eastern quoll.
