About the Park
Who doesn't know Looney Tunes Taz, the Tasmanian Devil? Welcome to his homeland, Tasmania. About 25 kilometres north of the Tasmanian capital Hobart (over 250,000 inhabitants) lies the small suburb of Brighton. Already in the 1980s, the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary was opened there and made accessible to visitors. Bonorong is not seen as a zoo - but as a facility for releasing healthy animals back into the wild. As a result, the animal population is constantly changing and includes wombats, Tasmanian devils, pouched martens, native birds, lizards, snakes and emus, in total about 30 species.
